Swapnil Kusale clinched a bronze medal for India at the Paris Olympics in the 50m rifle 3 position event.
Kusale began the final in sixth place after the kneeling stage, scoring 153.3 points. He then improved to fifth place by the end of the prone stage, accumulating a total of 310.1 points, just 0.6 points behind Ukraine’s Serhiy Kulish, who was third at that stage.
During the first five shots of the standing stage, Kusale scored 51.1 points, advancing to fourth place and just 0.4 points shy of the bronze medal position. He ultimately secured the bronze with his consistent performance.
Kusale works as a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) with the Pune Railway Division. Born in 1995 into an agricultural family, Kusale’s interest in sports was nurtured by his father, who enrolled him in Maharashtra’s government sports initiative, Krida Prabhodini. After a year of intensive physical training, Kusale chose shooting as his sport.
