On Monday at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, South Africa clinched a thrilling four-run victory over Bangladesh. Despite a strong Powerplay performance led by Tanzim Hasan and Taskin Ahmed, Bangladesh managed to restrict South Africa to 113 for six. Although South Africa’s decision to bat first didn’t go as planned, their economical bowling and ability to take quick wickets kept them in contention.
Even with Towhid Hridoy and Mahmudullah putting up a tough fight, South Africa maintained their composure and eventually dismissed both batsmen, securing their third successive win. This victory also marks the lowest total successfully defended in the tournament’s history.
This win firmly places South Africa in the driver’s seat for a spot in the Super Eight.
