Indian stock market indices opened on a strong note on Monday, fueled by global market gains. The National Stock Exchange’s Nifty 50 index commenced at 24,943.30, marking an increase of 108.45 points or 0.44%. The BSE Sensex rose by 346.93 points or 0.43% to reach 81,679.65.
Benchmark indices began the trading day positively, reflecting favorable developments in the US economy and ongoing momentum from Q1 results.
The S&P BSE Sensex touched a new high of 81,720.25 at the open, while the NSE Nifty 50 climbed to 24,980.45, positioning itself close to the 25,000 mark. There is a strong possibility that the Nifty 50 could surpass this milestone during today’s trading.
By around 9:20 am, the Sensex had risen 329.42 points to 81,662.14, and the Nifty 50 had gained 89.30 points to 24,924.15.
Leading gainers on the Nifty 50 included NTPC, BPCL, ICICI Bank, SBI, and Shriram Finance. The top losers were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Titan, Cipla, Tata Consumer Products, and SBI Life.
