Rajouri (Jammu and Kashmir) — Security forces initiated a search operation after gunfire was reported near an army camp in Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir, officials confirmed on Sunday.
The incident occurred in the Manjakot area of the district on Sunday morning, according to Army sources. Currently, forces are conducting the search in the Galluti area of the Manjakote sector.
“Several rounds of gunfire were reported near an army camp in Manjakot, Rajouri. A search operation is underway,” stated Army officials.
Further updates are awaited as the operation continues.
Meanwhile, in separate incidents on Saturday in Kulgam district, four terrorists were neutralized and two Indian Army soldiers lost their lives, defense officials reported on Sunday.
The encounters took place in Modergam village and later in the Frisal Chinnigam area of the district.
“Four terrorists have been killed in the ongoing operations in Kulgam. Two Indian Army soldiers also lost their lives during the encounters. Operations are ongoing,” said defense officials.
These incidents coincide with the ongoing Amarnath Yatra in South Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed an increase in terrorist activities in recent months.
