Google introduced Android 15 during its I/O developer’s conference last month and has recently confirmed its platform stability with the release of the third beta. The stable version is set to roll out to Pixel smartphones in the coming weeks, marking the culmination of its testing phase.

Several major Android smartphone manufacturers like Realme, Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo have also participated in the Android 15 beta testing at I/O 2024. However, Samsung devices were conspicuously absent from the list, continuing a trend observed in previous years.

In contrast, Samsung has been focusing on its upcoming One UI 7, with internal testing underway for the Galaxy S24 series. This testing phase suggests that beta versions for select users will follow soon, although specific features of One UI 7 remain undisclosed. The update is expected to extend across various Samsung flagship series, including Galaxy S, Galaxy Z, Galaxy A, Galaxy M, and Galaxy F, with the Galaxy S24 series anticipated to be the first recipients.

Samsung has maintained a commitment to software updates, promising up to seven years of major OS updates for its latest Galaxy S24 series and continuing to deliver updates for other recent models like the Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Z Flip/Fold 3, and newer devices.Looking ahead, devices such as the Galaxy Z Flip/Fold 6 and Galaxy Tab S10 series are anticipated to ship with One UI 6.1.1 based on Android 14 initially, with an imminent update to Android 15 expected post-launch.Overall, Samsung’s strategy underscores its dedication to extending software longevity across its product lineup, ensuring users benefit from ongoing improvements and feature enhancements in their devices.
