Pradeep Nakhwa, grieving the tragic loss of his wife Kaveri in a hit-and-run incident involving a BMW in Mumbai, passionately called for severe punishment for the driver responsible, emphasizing that her life might have been saved if the driver had stopped immediately after the collision.
Recalling the harrowing events, Pradeep described how he and Kaveri were riding their two-wheeler home from Crawford Market early on a Sunday morning when their vehicle was violently struck from behind by a speeding car at approximately 5:30 am. The impact threw them onto the car’s bonnet, causing injuries to both. Despite his efforts to intervene, the driver abruptly braked, causing Pradeep to fall off, while Kaveri remained trapped under the car’s front wheel.
In a desperate attempt to save his wife, Pradeep recounted banging on the car’s bonnet and chasing after it as it dragged Kaveri for over 2 kilometers towards the Worli-end of the sea link. His pleas for the driver to stop went unheeded, ultimately leading to Kaveri’s tragic death upon arrival at the hospital.
Expressing profound grief and anger, Pradeep lamented the devastating impact on their family, especially their two children, while demanding justice for the negligence that caused his wife’s death. The driver, identified as Mihir Shah, son of a prominent Shiv Sena leader, was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, having been seen at a nearby bar prior to the collision.
As the search for Mihir Shah continued, Mumbai police took action by issuing a Look Out Circular (LOC) against him and arresting others involved in allegedly aiding his escape. These developments underscored the severity of the incident and the urgent need for accountability in ensuring justice for Kaveri Nakhwa’s untimely and tragic death.
