Dhanush’s milestone 50th film, ‘Raayan’, which is also his second ‘A’ certified movie following ‘Vada Chennai’, is making waves at the box office. Each day’s earnings surpass the previous, putting ‘Raayan’ on track to become one of Dhanush’s most successful films. According to Sacnilk, the film’s Day 3 collection exceeded that of Day 2, with early estimates suggesting an impressive Rs 14.75 crore. This brings the total domestic collection to approximately Rs 42.75 crore, edging closer to the Rs 50 crore mark.
The Tamil version of ‘Raayan’ is driving the bulk of the film’s revenue, while the Telugu version has shown promising results. However, the Hindi version has struggled, likely due to insufficient promotion in that market. Additionally, competition from other films, such as ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, which earned Rs 4 crore on its fifth Sunday, may have impacted the film’s performance in these sectors.
Occupancy rates for ‘Raayan’ have been strong, with the Tamil version boasting an impressive 67.31% occupancy in key regions. The Telugu version saw a slight improvement, rising to 27.21% from 26.12% on Saturday.
‘Raayan’, Dhanush’s second directorial effort following ‘Pa Paandi’ (2017), is produced by Sun Pictures and features a supporting cast including Dushara Vijayan, Kalidas Jayaram, Sundeep Kishan, and SJ Suryah. The film’s music, composed by AR Rahman, has been met with critical acclaim, adding to the film’s appeal. The cinematography by Om Prakash and editing by GK Prasanna further enhance the film’s presentation.
