Pune Builder Vishal Agarwal’s case

Pune Builder Vishal Agarwal and his father, SK Agarwal, have been booked for abetting suicide.

The Chandannagar police have filed charges against builder Vishal Agarwal, his father SK Agarwal, and several others, alleging their involvement in the suicide of a building contractor from Wadgaonsheri. This tragic event unfolded amidst a financial dispute, leading to the victim’s death on January 9, 2024, four months earlier.

As of now, the accused builder is in the custody of the Pune police crime branch, linked to the Porsche car crash case on May 19. Simultaneously, his father remains in judicial custody at Yerawada Central Jail, implicated in the abduction case involving their family driver.

According to police sources, the victim, 42-year-old Shashikant Katore, was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan at his residence. In a suicide note, he held his friend responsible for his decision to end his life.

An FIR was filed against the friend, Vinay Vishnupant Kale, under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code for abetment of suicide on January 12. Kale obtained anticipatory bail from the district and sessions court to evade arrest.

Subsequently, the victim’s 69-year-old father lodged a complaint, accusing the builder, his father, and others of provoking his son’s suicide over a financial disagreement.

The case is expected to be transferred to the crime branch for further investigation and action.
