Kia is set to launch the new Carnival MPV in India by October this year. The model arriving in India is the facelifted version of the Carnival, previously showcased at the Auto Expo as the KA4. Initially, the Carnival will be imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), with local assembly expected to begin at a later date.

New Carnival Specifications and Pricing

The updated Carnival is anticipated to continue offering a diesel engine option. It is expected to be available in various seating configurations, including 7-, 9-, and 11-seater options. Despite its anticipated high price, the Carnival will not have a direct competitor in this segment at its price point. Initial pricing for the Carnival is expected to start around Rs 50 lakh, although some dealers suggest it could be as high as Rs 60 lakh due to heavy import duties.

While this price range may seem steep, the Carnival will provide a more affordable alternative to luxury MPVs like the Toyota Vellfire, which starts at Rs 1.22 crore (ex-showroom). The next most expensive MPV on sale is the Toyota Innova Hycross, priced at Rs 30.98 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Engine and Features

The international version of the Carnival offers three engine options: a 3.5-liter V6 petrol, a 1.6-liter petrol-hybrid, and a 2.2-liter diesel. For India, the Carnival is likely to continue with the 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel engine that delivers 201 hp, as seen in the previous generation.

The facelifted Carnival features a 12.3-inch display, redesigned AC and audio controls positioned below the central screen, a rotary drive selector, front and rear dash cameras, a head-up display, a digital rear-view mirror, an updated digital key, and ambient dashboard lighting. Multiple seating arrangements will be available, though specific configurations for India have yet to be confirmed.
