Nawazuddin Siddiqui, renowned for his stellar performances in films like The Lunchbox, Gangs of Wasseypur, Kahaani, and Sacred Games, recently opened up about the discrimination he has faced in the film industry due to his appearance. In a candid interview with News18, Nawazuddin expressed his perspective on being labeled as the ‘ugliest actor’ in Bollywood.

Nawazuddin’s Reflections:

During the interview, Nawazuddin candidly remarked, “Pata nahi shakalo se humari nafrat kyun hai kuch logon ko. Kyunki shakal hee aisi hai – itne badsurat hai humlog. Humein bhi lagta hai jab apne aap ko aaine mein dekhte hai. Hum bhi bolte hai apne aap ko ‘kyun aa gaye film industry mein itne gande shakal leke?’” (I don’t know why some people hate the way we look. Maybe it’s because we’re just that ugly. Even I feel it when I look at myself in the mirror. I question why I came into the film industry with such a bad appearance).

He further acknowledged, “I’m the ugliest actor – physically – in the film industry. Main toh yeh maanta hoon. Kyun ki main shuru se yeh sab sunte aa raha hoon aur abhi maanne bhi laga hoon.” (I consider myself to be that. Because I’ve been hearing it for so long that I’ve started to believe it).

Despite the challenges, Nawazuddin expressed gratitude for the opportunities he has received to portray diverse characters throughout his career.

Recent Projects:

Nawazuddin Siddiqui was last seen in “Haddi”, which premiered on the OTT platform Zee5. His latest release, Rautu Ka Raaz, directed by Anand Surapur, also streamed on Zee5 from June 28 onwards. The mystery drama features Atul Tiwari, Rajesh Kumar, and Narayani Shastri in pivotal roles.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s candid remarks shed light on the harsh realities of appearance-based discrimination in the film industry, while also highlighting his resilience and dedication to his craft.
