Today, Prime Minister Modi, along with 71 ministers of the new coalition government, formally pledged to uphold their duties. This government comprises 30 Cabinet Ministers, five with independent charge, and 36 Ministers of State, though their specific responsibilities are yet to be announced.
This term marks Modi’s third consecutive tenure, often referred to as Modi 3.0, beginning from his initial election victory in 2014. He now shares the distinction with Jawaharlal Nehru as one of the few Prime Ministers to secure three consecutive terms.
The oath-taking ceremony took place at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath to Prime Minister Modi, followed by other ministers. Notable figures like HD Kumaraswamy, Lalan Singh, and Sarbananda Sonowal also took their oaths during the event.
Supporters expressed their enthusiasm as the leaders solemnized their commitments. The inclusion of Jyotiraditya Scindia underscores his significance within the BJP, while the participation of Hardeep Singh Puri, a former diplomat, adds diversity to the government.
The ceremony garnered attention from leaders of neighboring countries and the Indian Ocean Region, including Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who graced the occasion with their presence.
