The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, Thane, Ratnagiri, and three other districts for the next 24 hours due to heavy rain. The IMD predicts thunderstorms with lightning and breezes in several areas including Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, north interior Karnataka, Meghalaya, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on June 10.

The southwest monsoon arrived in Maharashtra earlier than expected, causing heavy rainfall in Mumbai, Konkan, and Pune. Mumbai received over 60 mm of rain in 24 hours, leading to traffic disruptions and water-logging in some areas. Parts of Maharashtra are expected to experience extremely heavy rainfall in the coming days, prompting red alerts in some districts. Residents are advised to stay updated with weather forecasts and take necessary precautions.
