MG Motor India is set to introduce a new electric vehicle (EV) in the Indian market, based on the Wuling Cloud EV from its parent group, SAIC. The new model will be named the ‘Windsor EV.’

MG recently released a teaser asking viewers to decode the name of the upcoming EV using jumbled letters. Trademark filings from a few months ago confirm that the vehicle will indeed be named the Windsor EV. MG is scheduled to officially announce the name on August 5.
Battery Options and Range
– Battery Packs: The Windsor EV offers two battery pack options internationally:
- 37.9 kWh battery with a range of up to 360 km.
- 50.6 kWh battery with a range of up to 460 km.
– Motor: It features a front-axle-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor delivering 134 hp.
– Indian Availability: Details on which battery version will be available in India are yet to be confirmed.
Design and Features
- Design: The Windsor EV resembles an MPV but accommodates only five passengers in two rows, effectively classifying it as a large hatchback.
- Classification: MG refers to it as a ‘CUV’ (Crossover Utility Vehicle), combining elements of SUVs and hatchbacks.
