Introduction
Maruti Suzuki, India’s leading car manufacturer, has initiated the export of its popular Fronx crossover coupe to Japan. This move marks the first time Maruti Suzuki is exporting a vehicle to Japan, following the Baleno’s export in 2016. The Fronx will be sold under Suzuki Motor Corporation, the parent company of Maruti Suzuki in India. This development highlights Maruti Suzuki’s manufacturing prowess and aligns with the Indian Government’s Make in India initiative.
Design and Appeal
The Maruti Fronx introduces a fresh coupe design language to the sub-4m SUV segment, bridging the gap between traditional SUVs and sporty coupes. It stands out in Maruti Suzuki’s lineup, positioned below the Brezza, and has garnered positive feedback in India for its striking design, desirability, and performance. The Fronx is equipped with a 1.0L BoosterJet Turbo petrol engine that adds to its appeal.
Export Details
Maruti Suzuki has commenced shipping the Fronx to Japan from Pipavav Port in Gujarat, with an initial consignment of 1,600 units. The Fronx will be launched in Japan in Autumn 2024. Currently, the Fronx is produced exclusively at Maruti Suzuki’s state-of-the-art Gujarat facility, which has demonstrated its ability to manufacture vehicles meeting global standards.
