After a slight decline in earnings over the past few days, Nag Ashwin’s sci-fi epic, Kalki 2898 AD, regained significant momentum on Saturday, signaling a robust continuation at the box office. According to Sacnilk, the film showed a remarkable 100% growth in collections, amassing Rs 34.45 crore in net earnings in India on its 10th day of release, pushing its total domestic gross to Rs 466 crore.

Interestingly, on its second Saturday, the Hindi version of the film outperformed its Telugu counterpart, contributing substantially to its overall earnings. The day’s collection breakdown includes Rs 11 crore from Telugu, Rs 3 crore from Tamil, Rs 18.5 crore from Hindi, Rs 0.45 crore from Kannada, and Rs 1.5 crore from Malayalam, as reported by Sacnilk. Concurrently, the film crossed the impressive milestone of Rs 800 crore globally.

Nag Ashwin, reveling in the success of Kalki 2898 AD, has disclosed plans for its highly anticipated sequel. In an interview with Zoom, he shared, “The next one is a while off because it’s not really shot yet. It’s shot for about 20 to 30 days. I’d say at best 20 percent (is ready). At best 20 percent because the big stuff is still remaining. We have to get that right.” He further revealed that the sequel will primarily focus on the character Supreme Yaskin, portrayed by Kamal Haasan.

The resurgence in box office numbers and the director’s insights into the sequel’s development underscore the film’s enduring popularity and the anticipation surrounding its future installments. Nag Ashwin’s strategic handling and the enthusiastic reception by audiences continue to propel Kalki 2898 AD’s success story in the world of Indian cinema.
