On the first day of advance bookings, the sci-fi epic “Kalki 2898 AD,” starring Amitabh Bachchan and Prabhas, has made an impressive debut, grossing over ₹8.2 crore and selling more than 2.8 lakh tickets across India.
According to a report by Sacnilk.com, the Telugu version alone has sold 265,035 tickets for 1,726 shows, grossing ₹7.7 crore in formats including 3D, 2D, and IMAX 3D. In Hindi, the film sold 13,833 tickets for 1,738 shows, earning ₹43.6 lakh in similar formats. The Tamil release saw 2,925 tickets sold for 278 shows, bringing in ₹5.12 lakh. In Kannada, it sold 101 tickets across 32 shows, grossing ₹23,300, while in Malayalam, one ticket was sold for one show, grossing ₹300, all in 2D formats. Overall, the film has amassed a total of 281,895 tickets sold for 3,775 shows, resulting in a cumulative gross of ₹8.22 crore as of now.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, “Kalki 2898 AD” is set to hit theaters on June 27 and has been eagerly anticipated by fans. The film, inspired by Hindu scriptures and set in the year 2898 AD, features a star-studded cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, and Disha Patani. The storyline revolves around a post-apocalyptic world and has garnered attention with its recently unveiled trailer, showcasing impressive visuals and intriguing dialogues.
At a recent event in Mumbai, Amitabh Bachchan praised director Nag Ashwin for his visionary approach, stating, “Nagi came and explained the idea of ‘Kalki 2898 AD.’ After he left, I thought, what the hell is Nagi drinking? To think of something like this is absolutely outrageous.” He commended the execution of the futuristic concept and expressed gratitude for being part of such a groundbreaking project.
