On Monday, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar stated that India is not interested in involving a third party to mediate its disputes with China. He explained that while other countries might be interested in the relationship between India and China due to its global impact, India believes it should resolve its issues directly with China.
Jaishankar highlighted that the relationship between the two countries has been strained, particularly since 2020 when China’s military actions at the border led to clashes and casualties. He noted that the situation remains unresolved, and India’s relationship with China is currently poor. India hopes for improvement, but this can only occur if China adheres to past agreements and respects the Line of Control (LOC).
In Tokyo, the foreign ministers of the Quad group—comprising the US, Japan, India, and Australia—are meeting. Topics under consideration include disaster resilience, digital and emerging technologies, and connectivity in the Indo-Pacific region. Meanwhile, China has criticized the Quad alliance, accusing it of creating unnecessary tensions and trying to limit the growth of other countries in the Asia Pacific region.
