Isha Koppikar recounted a distressing casting couch incident from her early years in the industry when she was just 18 years old.
During a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Isha emotionally recalled facing unpleasant experiences in the film industry. She disclosed how an A-list actor once requested to meet her alone, citing rumors about his involvement with other actresses. Speaking in Hindi, she shared, “One actor asked me to meet him alone, without my driver or anyone else, because there were controversies and rumors about him. But I refused, saying I couldn’t come alone. He was a prominent actor in Hindi cinema, and I must have been around 22-23 years old at the time.”
Reflecting further, Isha added, “When I was 18, a secretary and an actor approached me with casting couch propositions, implying that being ‘friendly’ with actors was necessary to secure work. I am naturally friendly, but what does ‘friendly’ really mean? I am so friendly that Ekta Kapoor once told me to have some attitude.” She also recounted instances where inappropriate behavior was directed at her, with suggestions to be ‘friendly’ with male leads in a sleazy manner.
Isha made her Bollywood debut in 1998 with the film “Ek Tha Dil Ek Thi Dhadkan” and later appeared in movies such as “Fiza,” “Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat,” “Company,” “Kaante,” “Pinjar,” and “Dil Ka Rishta.” She starred alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra in “Don.”
In 2009, Isha married hotelier Timmy Narang, whom she met at a gym. They welcomed their daughter Rianna in July 2014, but earlier this year, they decided to part ways.
