After introducing its dual-cylinder CNG setup in the Exter, Hyundai India has now launched the Grand i10 Nios hatchback with the same configuration. This update has notably increased the boot space. The new setup is offered in two mid-spec variants, with prices ranging from Rs 7.75 lakh to Rs 8.30 lakh.

Key highlights of the dual-cylinder Nios CNG include:

  • Launched in Magna and Sportz variants
  • 1.2-litre engine producing 69hp and 95Nm on CNG
  • Available with a manual gearbox only

The dual-cylinder CNG Nios is Rs 7,000 more expensive than the single-cylinder CNG versions, which will continue to be sold. It is also approximately Rs 97,000 pricier than the petrol variants. The CNG kit is available on the mid-spec Magna and Sportz trims, which have the same equipment and safety features as the petrol models.

The 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine generates 69hp and 95Nm of torque on CNG, and 83hp and 114Nm on petrol. Hyundai offers a 5-speed manual with the Nios CNG, while the petrol variants also have a 5-speed AMT option.

The Tata Tiago is the only other model in its class with a dual-cylinder CNG setup. The manual variants are priced between Rs 6.60 lakh and Rs 8.35 lakh. Additionally, Tata’s small CNG hatchback offers a 5-speed AMT gearbox option, priced between Rs 7.90 lakh and Rs 8.90 lakh. Other competitors to the Nios CNG include Maruti’s CNG-powered Wagon R (Rs 6.45-6.80 lakh) and Celerio (Rs 6.74 lakh).
