Hero MotoCorp has officially launched its operations in the Philippines, marking its entry into the 48th international market. This expansion is the result of a new partnership with Terrafirma Motors Corporation (TMC), a division of the Columbian Group of Companies, which will handle the assembly and distribution of Hero motorcycles in the region.
Partnership and Facility
TMC will serve as the exclusive assembler and distributor for Hero MotoCorp products in the Philippines. Announced in October 2022, this collaboration is set to introduce Hero’s renowned two-wheelers to the Southeast Asian market. A state-of-the-art assembly plant and parts warehouse have been established in Laguna, Philippines. Spanning over 6,000 square meters, this facility has an annual production capacity of 150,000 units. The plant will assemble several popular Hero models, including the Xpulse 200 4V, the Hunk 160R 4V (similar to the Xtreme 160R 4V in India), and the Xoom scooter.
Warranty and Support
All Hero motorcycles in the Philippines will come with a standard 2-year or 24,000 km warranty, ensuring customer satisfaction and reliability. To support its operations, Hero MotoCorp and TMC have developed a comprehensive retail network, featuring over 350 customer touchpoints for sales, service, and spare parts. Plans are underway to expand this network rapidly by the end of the year, providing extensive support and availability across the country.
Statements from Leaders
Niranjan Gupta, CEO of Hero MotoCorp, expressed enthusiasm about the new market entry, stating, “The commencement of operations in the Philippines will enhance our global presence. Partnering with Terrafirma Motors Corporation, a distinguished entity within the Columbian Group, positions us to swiftly establish and grow in this important market.”
Bienvenido Sanvictores Santos, Chairman of TMC, added, “We are thrilled to partner with Hero MotoCorp. We are confident that Hero’s motorcycles and scooters will be well-received by customers in the Philippines.”
This move aligns with Hero MotoCorp’s broader strategy to strengthen its international footprint. The company is currently active in 48 countries, with technological and manufacturing facilities located in India, Colombia, and Bangladesh.
