Actor-filmmaker Dhanush had double reasons to celebrate over the weekend. His second directorial venture and landmark 50th film, Raayan, has been performing exceptionally well at the box office since its release on Friday. On Sunday, Dhanush marked his 41st birthday with close family members, visiting the Thiruvannamalai temple along with his parents and children.
In a heartfelt note expressing his gratitude for the birthday wishes and the positive reception of Raayan, Dhanush wrote, “My sincere thanks to the audience, film fraternity, friends, press and media, and my pillars of support — my fans for showering me with all your blessings. This is the best BLOCKBUSTER birthday gift ever. Om Namashivaayam.”
Raayan, despite receiving mixed reviews, has emerged as one of Dhanush’s most successful films to date, earning Rs 42.75 crore in India. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film features an impressive cast including SJ Suryah, Kalidas Jayaram, Aparna Balamurali, Prakash Raj, Sundeep Kishan, and Dushara Vijayan. The soundtrack by AR Rahman is receiving widespread acclaim, with many viewing it as Rahman’s musical response to critics who questioned his suitability for the project.
Looking ahead, Dhanush is set to appear in several high-profile projects. He will star in ace director Sekhar Kammula’s Kubera, alongside Rashmika Mandanna. Additionally, he is reuniting with his Raanjhanaa director Aanand L Rai for Tere Ishq Mein, directing his third film Nilavukku Enmel Ennadi Kobam, and starring in the Ilaiyaraaja biopic directed by Arun Matheswaran.
