Kartik Aaryan’s film ‘Chandu Champion’ is experiencing a moderate success at the box office, although it witnessed a decline in earnings on its seventh day in theaters. Directed by Kabir Khan, the film has one more week to attract audiences before the release of Nag Ashwin’s highly anticipated sci-fi movie, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’.

As reported by industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Chandu Champion’ grossed Rs 2.50 crore on Thursday, June 20, bringing its total collection to Rs 39.62 crore. The film maintained an 11.71% occupancy rate in Hindi cinemas.

The film started its theatrical run with Rs 5.40 crore on June 14 and reached Rs 37.12 crore by its sixth day, benefiting from positive word of mouth and a strong performance over an extended weekend. Despite a slower initial opening than anticipated, Kabir Khan acknowledged the film’s early challenges in an interview with Bollywood Hungama.

Celebrities, including Katrina Kaif, have praised ‘Chandu Champion’. Katrina, impressed by Kabir Khan’s storytelling and the film’s emotional depth portraying India’s first Paralympic gold medalist Murlikant Petkar, expressed her admiration on social media.

“‘Kabirrrrrrrr just loved the film, you are such a beautiful storyteller, you brought such an incredible story to life, was so emotional to see this story and how beautifully you have made this film. (sic),” Katrina wrote, indicating a positive reception among viewers.

For Kabir Khan, ‘Chandu Champion’ marks a successful return after the underwhelming performance of his previous directorial venture, ’83’, at the box office. The film’s ability to resonate with audiences amidst competitive releases sets a promising trajectory for its box office journey.
