Carlos Alcaraz secured his second consecutive Wimbledon men’s singles title by defeating Novak Djokovic in straight sets at Centre Court.
The Spaniard dominated from start to finish, overpowering Djokovic who struggled to find his form throughout the match. Despite a slight stumble when serving for the win, Alcaraz regained composure and sealed the victory with a 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) scoreline.
In a gracious moment of sportsmanship, Djokovic congratulated Alcaraz with a smile and embraced him at the net following his comprehensive defeat.
This final marked Djokovic’s bid to match Roger Federer’s record of eight Wimbledon titles and surpass Margaret Court’s all-time Grand Slam singles record, but the day belonged to Alcaraz.
Celebrating with his team and family in the players’ box, Alcaraz extended his winning streak at Wimbledon to 14 matches. His triumph also solidified his perfect record in Grand Slam finals and established him as the youngest man to win both Wimbledon and the French Open in the same year.
Later in the day, Alcaraz capped off his extraordinary achievement by celebrating Spain’s victory in the Euro 2024 final, making it a memorable day for him and his nation.
