Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic are set to face off again in the Wimbledon final, reprising last year’s showdown. They both dominated their semi-final matches on Friday to secure their spots.
Defending champion Alcaraz defeated Daniil Medvedev with impressive scores of 6-7(1), 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. Meanwhile, seven-time champion Djokovic smoothly handled Lorenzo Musetti, winning 6-4, 7-6(2), 6-4.
Although neither semi-final fully captivated the Centre Court audience, anticipation is high for Sunday’s final. Last year, Alcaraz won in a thrilling five-setter, handing Djokovic his first Centre Court loss in ten years. Djokovic’s clinical victory over Musetti suggests he’s eager to reclaim the title.
Despite Musetti’s efforts, which included a spirited comeback in the first set and pressure on Djokovic in the second, Djokovic’s resilience and powerful play secured his place in his 37th Grand Slam final.
The upcoming final promises excitement, especially given Spain’s Alcaraz aiming to defend his title and Djokovic eyeing his 25th Grand Slam victory. It will be a rematch not seen since Djokovic faced Roger Federer in consecutive Wimbledon finals in 2014 and 2015.
