If launched in India under the Renault brand, the new SUV will compete against models like the Nexon, Brezza, Venue, XUV300, and Sonet. For European markets, Renault’s subsidiary Dacia is developing a new SUV for the B-SUV segment, set to replace the Sandero Stepwa

What to Expect from the New B-SUV

The new Dacia SUV will be smaller than the latest-gen Duster, which measures 4,343 mm in length. As the Duster has grown over the years, a smaller SUV will help Renault target a broader customer base with its more affordable pricing. Renault is also working on a larger SUV, the Bigster (a 7-seat Duster), scheduled for a 2025 release.

Development and Platform

To keep development and production costs low, Renault’s new entry-level SUV will use the existing CMF-B architecture, which is also employed in the Sandero, Sandero Stepway, Duster, Jogger, and Logan. This platform will also support the upcoming Bigster SUV, along with a crossover wagon and fastback-style sedan set for a 2026 launch. By sharing parts and components, Dacia maintains its competitive pricing.y and slot below the Duster in their lineup. The European launch is anticipated for 2027.

Powertrain Options

To maximize the appeal of the new B-SUV, Renault will offer various powertrain options, including internal combustion engines (ICE), mild-hybrid, full-hybrid, and LPG. This range will leverage Renault Group’s latest engine technologies, enhancing both efficiency and performance. Given the rising interest in electric vehicles (EVs), a fully electric model might be introduced, with the next-gen Sandero expected to offer an electric option in 2028. An AWD option is under consideration, though a standard FWD is more likely due to cost considerations.

Styling and Features

The compact SUV is expected to draw design elements from the Dacia Manifesto concept and the Sandrider, which is designed for rally events. Despite these influences, the new SUV will have a more subdued design. It will be taller than the Sandero Stepway, providing more interior space while retaining a rugged, adventurous aesthetic with ample ground clearance, sharp paneling, and durable body cladding.
