The film *Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha*, starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu, has struggled to make an impact at the box office. The film had a disappointing opening, earning just Rs 1.85 crore on its first day, which was even lower than Akshay Kumar’s recent film *Sarfira*. On Saturday, the movie showed a slight improvement, with early estimates suggesting it earned Rs 2.15 crore. This brings its total domestic earnings to Rs 4 crore.
Despite this small increase, the film’s performance remains underwhelming compared to previous releases. *Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha* has underperformed relative to Ajay Devgn’s last film, *Maidaan*, which was also a box office disappointment. *Maidaan* managed to collect Rs 71 crore worldwide against a reported budget of Rs 235 crore. In contrast, *Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha* has struggled to match even a fraction of that, despite the latter’s Rs 7.25 crore earnings in its first two days excluding previews.
Ajay Devgn’s recent successful film, *Shaitaan*, significantly outperformed *Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha*, earning Rs 33.5 crore in its first two days and eventually grossing Rs 176.05 crore in India. This stark contrast highlights the current film’s struggle.
*Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha* was released alongside *Ulajh*, starring Janhvi Kapoor and Gulshan Devaiah, which has fared even worse with only Rs 2.85 crore earned in its initial two days. Additionally, the film faces tough competition from the Hollywood blockbuster *Deadpool and Wolverine*, which has continued its strong performance into its second week, amassing Rs 101 crore in India so far. On Saturday, *Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha* had a 10.93 percent Hindi occupancy rate, with most viewers attending evening shows. Directed by Neeraj Pandey, the film also features Shantanu Maheshwari, Jimmy Shergill, and Saiee Manjrekar in key roles.
