2024 NIRF Rankings Released: IISc Bangalore Tops the List

The Ministry of Education has announced the 2024 National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings today, highlighting the continued excellence of India’s leading universities.

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore has once again secured the top position, maintaining its place as the leading university in India for the third consecutive year.

Following IISc, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) New Delhi and Jamia Millia Islamia have retained their second and third positions, respectively, from the previous year.

This year’s rankings have introduced some changes in the top ten:

  • Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal has climbed to the fourth spot, moving up from its previous position.
  • Jadavpur University has dropped to the ninth position.
  • Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Varanasi holds the fifth spot.
  • Delhi University has made significant progress, rising from eleventh to sixth.
  • Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham remains in seventh place.
  • Aligarh Muslim University has improved its position, moving up to eighth from ninth.
  • Vellore Institute of Technology has experienced a slight decline, falling from eighth to tenth.

    Additionally, the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, is recognized as the top-ranked law university in the country according to the latest rankings.
